Terms of Service

By downloading, installing, or using the Wordie iOS app ("Wordie", "the App"), you agree to the terms below. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

1. The App

Wordie is a vocabulary-learning app for iOS that uses your iPhone camera, on-device translation, and a cloud-based recognition call to help you build language flashcards. It is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind.

2. Your Account

Wordie does not require an account. Your Apple ID is used by Apple to manage subscriptions; we never receive your Apple ID, email, or payment details. You are responsible for keeping your device passcode secure.

3. Subscriptions

  • Wordie offers an optional auto-renewing subscription called Wordie+, billed weekly, monthly, or annually via Apple.
  • Where offered, free trials apply only to first-time subscribers. The current trial lengths are surfaced on the paywall inside the App at the moment of purchase.
  • Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase or, where a free trial is offered, at the end of the trial period.
  • Your subscription renews automatically at the same price for the same billing period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
  • Manage or cancel any time in iOS Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions. Uninstalling the App does not cancel an active subscription.
  • Your use of Wordie is also governed by Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to: reverse-engineer the App except as permitted by law; use the recognition feature to identify other people, faces, license plates, or anything that would violate someone else's privacy; attempt to disrupt Wordie's recognition API by submitting abusive traffic.

5. Intellectual Property

Wordie and its visual design, including the "W" wordmark, are owned by Mehmet Akduman. Cards you create belong to you and remain on your device.

6. Third-Party Services

Wordie sends a downscaled thumbnail of each capture to Google's Gemini Flash for one recognition call. Your use of Google's service is governed by Google's Gemini API Terms. You can disable cloud recognition in the App's Settings to use only Apple's on-device classifier.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Wordie shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the App. Recognition is statistical and can be wrong — verify important translations.

8. Changes

We may update these Terms. Material changes will be surfaced in the App. Continued use after a change indicates acceptance.
